Look what we made - a Cupcake Stand!

I've been wanting a cupcake stand for quite some time- but all the ones that I have found that I love are way expensive for my taste.  So, I decided to make my own!

I got these three plates at Hobby Lobby when they were doing half off (which is literally every other week I think), and I spent less than $20 on them.  I got these candle sticks at the dollar store.  I was quite a sight at Hobby Lobby, pregnant squatting on the floor, trying to stack these plates on candle sticks without breaking them.  I had a sweet older lady curiously offer me some help, and when I told her what I was doing, she went off in search of her own supplies for the same project - so sweet!

Have you used Gorilla Glue?  Wow - that stuff is serious.  I've read about it on many other blogs, but I had no idea how strong it was until I tried it.  It means business.  And you just need a tee-tiny bit - really and truly.  If you think you don't have enough on the candle stick, you probably still have too much.  Ask me how I know - I spent half and hour scraping the extra dry glue off with a razor blade on the first layer, not fun.  Not at all.

We glued one piece together at a time, and let them sit for about an hour before adding the next layer.

I'm so happy with how it turned out!  It was perfect for our Gender Reveal Party Cupcakes!

I'm linking up with the Weekend Wrap Up Party for the first time!  Check it out there are some amazingly talented ladies out there!
